Biography & News

London-based directing duo The Rig Out is comprised of Glenn Kitson and James Bowthorpe.

Glenn began his journey selling vintage sportswear and trainers before quickly moving into styling and consulting for sports and fashion brands across publications, photography and films.

James is a searcher, strumming on the very chord of life. Born on the west coast of Scotland, he started out by swimming to school everyday until he was 16. With adventure in his bones he set out into the world of mountains, icicles and the unknown, cycling around the world in record breaking time in 2009.

Together they combine their impeccable taste, knowledge and creativity into The Rig Out; an established creative collective working with and directing for some of the biggest and best names in fashion, music, lifestyle and performance sports. Originally a print magazine, The Rig Out was born from an interest in connecting good people with great brands. They have an honest voice, thrive on innovative thinking and have an extensive list of collaborators.

They work with established artists, musicians, subcultures and influencers, allowing them to deliver credible strategic content that elevates concepts and generates an audience on a global scale.

The Rig Out’s client list spans Nike, Levi’s, Reebok, Size?, Rapha, Tate Modern, Converse and more. Recent work includes an online film featuring NBA star Jamal Crawford for sportswear newcomer Brandblack & a short film documenting James’ recent journey along the Hudson River in a boat made from NYC’s trash.

London based The Rig Out teamed up with AWFUL records to film their London Take Over tour.

’Women Against Trump’ was featured in Fast Company, Creativity, LBB and Ads of the World election coverage. We take an important stance and hope to inspire to reject a dangerous man with despicable attitudes towards women.

Director duo The Rig Out teamed up with North Dublin’s greatest rapper, Rejjie Snow and photographer Will Robson-Scott for a new campaign for Brandblack.

The Rig Out collaborated with artist Elena Gumenuik for Size? X Fred Perry with a series of animated GIFs starring musician Elliott Power. More on the Size? blog.
