With over 10 feature films and TV dramas under his belt, Mikael has extensive and unique experience as a filmmaker. His long career includes his feature film debut “Call Girl,” which won the International Critics’ Award at the Toronto International Film Festival. The miniseries “Lasermannen” won the Kristallen award for Best TV Drama in the early 2000s, the mini-series “Upp Till Kamp” won the Prix Italia and the DN Prize in 2007. His cinematic adaptations of Klas Östergren’s classic novels “Gentlemen & Gangsters” (2015) earned him a record-breaking 13 nominations at the Guldbagge Awards and was later picked up and released by Netflix in the USA as both a feature film and a TV series.

“The Hunt for a Killer,” a 6-episode long true crime drama, premiered on SVT in the fall of 2020 and was a critical success. His adaptation for SVT of Kerstin Ekman’s classic novel “Blackwater” won this year’s Prix Europa, Series Mania International Panorama best series, and Kristallen for best TV series.
Marcimain is currently in post-production with the feature film “An Honest Life” for Netflix, a coming-of-age thriller set in a university environment, scheduled to premiere in the fall of 2024.
